Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies
Monday, December 21, 2009 Posted by The Mom Jen

In 2009 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) significantly increased the recommended daily fiber intake standards, far above the previous "age plus five" rule. In fact, today's updated guidelines recommend 25 grams of fiber per day for four-year-old children. But how do we meet these requirements and get our children to eat high in fiber foods? Especially with the holidays here and busy schedules kicking into gear.
There's a delicious daily fiber supplement to help kids ages 2-11 maintain better digestive health and stay regular*. The penguin-shaped, great tasting Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies are sugar-free, calorie-free, gluten-free and made with natural fruit flavors. With a recommended serving of three gummies every day, (equal to a cup of broccoli!), Fiber Gummies are a great way to supplement the fiber found in fruits, vegetables and other fiber-rich foods in your child﹑s daily diet. It﹑s a great solution to help bridge the gap between the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended amount of fiber and the fiber that kids actually consume in their daily diet. A bonus... Fiber Gummies are dentist approved!

Recommended serving:
- Kids 2-11: 1 gummy, 3 times daily

Our Take: Ever since my youngest daughter was potty trained, we've had difficulty with getting her on a "regular" routine of bowel movements. So much so, she's had prolapse happen. As you may know, getting any child to eat vegetables regularly is near impossible. Fruits, we can do, but all 3 of my kids, mostly my 3 year old are just not getting enough fiber. For a year my daughter was taking a prescription Lactulose to help her along. But, now we've tried the Fiber gummies and are really happy with the results. We're no longer taking "medicine" it's more like a healthy vitamin. I think even the terminology is important for all my kids to know about. The gummies smell like jell-o and taste great. My daughter looks forward to her "penguin vite" and I've seen a positive change in her restroom habits!! I must say that often I give her only 1 or 2 gummies a day and that seems to be going very well.
Suggested retail price is $7.99 for a bottle of 60 gummies; available at Target and Walgreens, also online and other supermarkets and retailers nationwide.
You can visit www.fibergummies.com and get a $1.00 off coupon and use the store locator to see where the product is sold in your area. Getting kids to eat foods high in fiber without complaint is a challenge faced by many moms, so the Web site also offers helpful tips on how to incorporate a high-fiber diet into a busy family﹑s lifestyle with tips for meal planning and easy-to-make recipes too.
I have a bottle of Pedia-lax Fiber Gummies for one lucky reader of The Mom Reviews so you can try them out yourself!

My 4 year old loves any kind of fruit. She's not a major fan of vegetables after they've been cooked, but she will eat them raw as long as she can dip them in ranch.

December 27, 2009 7:33 PM
I have one child, three and he loves starchy vegetables like bananas and apples and will only eat disguised veggies. But I give him supplemental powdered drinks and a chocolate milk that doctors recommend to accompany meals, and in some cases to replace them - like for those with feeding tubes. And he gets his vitamin . He does eat seaweed snacks - nori - which is really good for him - and yummy and vegetable crackers. Oh and SOMETIMES he eats peaches - canned and applesauce - I stay away from the last usually as the juice will give him the runs and I'm never sure if the sauce will have the same effect. And if a pretty girl offers him fruit - he'll eat it! I'm signing in with my amywill5918 account - if I win can you let me know through my 2ndchancephoenix at gmail dot com account?
