I love to read, our entire family does in fact. But, can we get away from holding a book, turning it's pages, and sticking a bookmark in to hold it's place?

Retailing for $259 at Amazon.com, is this something that you want to try out this holiday season!? Can you give up strolling through the bookstore? My curiosity has the best of me.

I would LOVE a Kindle. I know it wouldn't stop me from going to the bookstore, or using the library though. I always carry a book with me, and some books are HUGE and heavy. It would be great for traveling too. When we went to Kentucky this summer, I took a bag full of books...and I bought a few more along the way because I had read through everything I brought. It would be so handy to have books (so many of them!) all on one device.

I can't see myself ever giving up books. I love browsing the bookstore and my own library shelf. There's something satisfying about holding a book and turning the pages as I read. But.....I think I'd like a Kindle for traveling. No more lugging books around the planet or taking paperbacks I probably wouldn't read twice and leaving them in a trail behind me :)

I love books and turning pages. I use a computer all day and I have never enjoyed scanning a screen as I do a page...my eyes just get tired faster and I lose my place. I think these are great, but I don't think they will replace books anytime soon.

I love books, and I'm not sure that I'd end up liking the Kindle. That being said, I still kind of want one...

Thanks for the helpful review. I've been so curious about devices like the Kindle. I've been using my way out-of-date Pocket PC to read books on for years.

This is my number 1 item on my wishlist for the holidays.Told the kids and the hubbs I want Amazon gift cards so I can pool them and get a Kindle. I love to read and this would solve a big problem around here-stacks of books here and there.

I am going to convert! But not to a Kindle--sorry. I'm getting a nook for Christmas--it is the Barnes & Noble version and seems perfect for me.

I like that you can borrow e-books from the library, read them at B&N, and lend your books from your nook to someone else. Can't wait to only have this in my purse instead of books in my purse, car, nightstand, etc.
